CRM Pipeline Reporting: What's New for Sales

The Problem This Solves

Up to now, if leadership wanted to know “how many opportunities were pitched in July,” the answer came from looking at what's currently sitting in the Pitched stage. That's misleading. If an opportunity was pitched in July and then moved on to Won in August, it no longer shows up as “Pitched” anywhere. The real July pitch activity was getting lost every time a deal progressed.

The new features described below fix that, by permanently recording when each opportunity first reached every major stage, and by building real reports and dashboard charts on top of that data.

Part 1: Pipeline Milestone Tracking

Every Opportunity now permanently records the date it first reached each of these six stages:

  • Qualified
  • Appointment Set
  • Pitched
  • Won
  • Lost
  • Disqualified

These dates are set automatically the moment an opportunity reaches that stage, and, this is the key part, they never change again, even if the opportunity later moves backward, forward, or all the way to Won. So “Date Pitched” always answers “when was this opportunity first pitched,” accurately, forever.

What This Means for Sales Leadership

  • Accurate historical reporting. You can now pull real numbers like “how many opportunities were pitched last quarter” or “how many were won in July,” numbers that reflect what actually happened, not just today's snapshot of the pipeline.
  • Filter and group by any of these dates. Reports can be filtered to a date range, grouped by month, and broken out by salesperson, state, or lead source, so you can see rep-level or team-level performance over time, not just current pipeline counts.
  • Data integrity is protected. These dates can't be manually edited by reps, they're system-maintained, so the numbers stay trustworthy. If a correction is ever genuinely needed, that's restricted to a small admin group, not open to everyone.

What Changes for Your Team

Nothing about how reps work day to day changes. You move opportunities through stages exactly like you do now, drag a card, update a stage, mark something lost. The new dates populate automatically in the background. The only visible change is a new “Milestone Dates” tab on the Opportunity form, which shows these six dates (view-only for reps).

Part 2: New Reports

Four new ways to see how opportunities move through the pipeline, all built on the milestone dates above, all reachable from CRM > Reporting.

Pipeline Progression

Shows how many opportunities entered each stage during a date range you choose. Available as a list, a pivot table, and a graph, with Excel export.

Sales Rep Performance

The same underlying report, grouped by Salesperson and State, so you can compare how each rep's or region's opportunities are moving through the pipeline over time, not just where their pipeline stands today.

Conversion Funnel

Shows what percentage of opportunities make it from one stage to the next, New to Qualified, Qualified to Appointment Set, and so on, as a filterable pivot table. A summary version of this also appears on the CRM dashboard (see Part 3).

Opportunity Aging

Shows the average number of days opportunities spend in each stage before moving forward, helping identify where deals are stalling. A summary version also appears on the CRM dashboard.

Pricelist Presented

Two new fields on every Opportunity, Pricelist Presented and Pricelist Presented Date, right under Expected Revenue. Pick the pricelist shown to the customer and the date stamps itself automatically the first time, no extra steps. All four reports above can be filtered by which pricelist was presented.

All Filterable By

Date Range, Sales Representative, State, Lead Source, and Pricelist Presented, across every report listed above.

Part 3: Dashboard Charts at a Glance

Four charts live on the CRM dashboard for a quick visual read, no clicking into a separate report needed.

Pitched vs Won

A monthly chart comparing how many opportunities were pitched against how many were won, side by side. This is the clearest close-rate signal available: pipeline size alone doesn't say whether pitches are converting into revenue, this chart does.

Conversion Funnel by Stage

Four bars, one per stage transition, each showing what percentage of opportunities that reached the earlier stage went on to reach the next one. A single overall conversion number hides where the real drop-off happens; this breaks it apart stage by stage.

Opportunity Aging by Stage

Four bars showing the average number of days spent in each stage transition. Directly supports coaching conversations: if deals are consistently stalling for weeks at a specific stage, that becomes visible immediately instead of staying anecdotal.

“Sales Rep” - Opportunities by Stage (Current Month)

A per-rep view showing one bar per stage for a specific named rep, opportunities entered that stage this month. This is a supplemental, one-rep-at-a-time chart; the full side-by-side comparison across every rep lives in the Sales Rep Performance report described in Part 2.

Where to See It

  • Pipeline Progression, Sales Rep Performance, Conversion Funnel, and Opportunity Aging, all under CRM > Reporting, using the same filters, group-by, pivot, and export tools you already know.
  • The four dashboard charts, on the CRM Dashboard, for an at-a-glance view without navigating into a report.
  • The Milestone Dates tab, on any individual Opportunity, showing that opportunity's own six stage dates.
  • The Pricelist Presented fields, on the Opportunity form itself, right under Expected Revenue.

Status

This is currently in final testing before going live. Once confirmed working end to end, it'll be available for reporting going forward.

One important note on history: these reports only reflect activity from the date this feature went live, forward. Historical backfilling for existing opportunities isn't possible, the stage-timing data simply doesn't exist for anything before that date, so numbers will look thin at first and build up to something genuinely representative over the following weeks.
