Job Summary:
The Shipping Specialist is a critical member of our compounding pharmacy team, responsible for the accurate, efficient, and safe packaging and shipment of sterile and non-sterile compounded medications. This role demands exceptional attention to detail, adherence to strict quality and compliance standards, and a strong commitment to meeting daily shipping deadlines. The successful candidate will demonstrate a highly reliable attendance record, a consistent ability to meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and a positive, collaborative attitude that contributes to a productive work environment.

Must Have
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in a shipping, logistics, or fulfillment role, preferably in a healthcare or regulated environment.
- Proven experience working with shipping software (e.g., FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip).
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Accurately verify prescription information against packaged medications to ensure correct patient, drug, dosage, and quantity.
- Select appropriate packaging materials and methods (e.g., cold chain, hazardous materials, fragile items) based on medication requirements and shipping regulations.
- Ensure all packages are securely sealed, labeled correctly with shipping labels, and include all necessary documentation (e.g., patient instructions, invoices).
- Handle hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Utilize shipping software to process shipments, generate tracking numbers, and schedule pickups with various carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS).
- Monitor shipping progress and proactively address any delays or issues with shipments.
- Maintain accurate shipping logs and records, including tracking numbers, delivery dates, and any special instructions.
- Coordinate with customer service and pharmacy staff regarding shipping inquiries, discrepancies, or special requests.
- Assist with inventory management of shipping supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely reordering.
- Perform routine quality checks on outgoing packages to ensure integrity and compliance.
- Report any packaging or shipping errors, equipment malfunctions, or supply shortages to management promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all pharmacy policies and procedures, including USP <797> and <795> guidelines, HIPAA, and state/federal shipping regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all safety protocols.
- Participate in all required training and continuing education relevant to shipping, hazardous materials, and compounding pharmacy operations.
